LE AVREBBE RICORDATE SEMPRE QUELLE ROSE.  

Per ben tre volte quel giorno,prima che arrivassero a Dallas, si era finta deliziata quando qualcuno le aveva regalato delle rose gialle, fiori per cui il Texas era famoso. Solo a Dallas raccontò Jackie, "..mi diedero delle rose rosse. Che strano, pensai, rose rosse per me". Pochi istanti dopo il sedile posteriore dell'auto su cui viaggiavamo sarebbe stato cosparso di petali di rosa sanguinanti, un immagine surreale che Jackie non sarebbe più riuscita a cancellare dalla mente. Ma in quel momento, mentre si godevano il sole di mezzogiorno e gli applausi della folla assiepata lungo le strade di Dallas, Jack e Jackie sembravano più felici e uniti di quanto fossero mai stati prima.
